On May 10, 2015, the launching ceremony for the ASEAN Plus Three Training Program on Understanding China 2015 was held in Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU).
The program invited some senior professors in areas of diplomacy, politics, economy and military. Their insights will help the participants understand China in the short period from May 11 to May 31.
The lectures and on-site visits to some Chinese academic institutions, enterprises and also some cities, like Handan and Taiji Culture City aims to help them gain more comprehensive, real and objective understanding about contemporary China.
ASEAN Plus Three Training Program on Understanding China was firstly launched in 2010 and has been held annually since then. Sponsored by a Special Fund of the Chinese Government for Asian Countries, the program is under the administration of the Ministry of Education and operated by Beijing Foreign Studies University.
ASEAN Plus Three Training Program on Understanding China aims to promote better understanding of China among diplomats and government officials from ASEAN countries who work at China-related positions. By offering a comprehensive and compact training program at Beijing Foreign Studies University, as well as scholar-led excursions to government institutions, high-tech enterprises, historical and cultural sites in Beijing and other places, the program increases the chance of getting real experiences with the diverse Chinese people, fast-changing society and Chinese culture.
Participants normally take all the lectures, seminars and excursions without absence. Every participant is required to submit a research paper from their own perspectives or experiences before the end the program.
