The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), for example, will be run based on international practice and learn from the existing multilateral financial institutions. It will play a role to improve and supplement the existing international economic and financial order, Liu said.

Some even believe that the purpose of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative is to export China's redundant industrial capacity. It is true China is a worldwide manufacturing nation with strengths in production capacity, funding, and skills. However, many countries along the route are in the early period of industrialization, so bilateral cooperation can help them to complement each other and benefit all, Liu said. China is against product dumping and will not move outdated production lines to other countries.

Ambassador Liu finished by pointing out that "One Belt, One Road" will provide an opportunity for Sino-Britain relations. Historically, China's products such as silk, tea and ceramics were transported far away to Britain along the Silk Road, making it possible for China-Britain economic and trade cooperation.

The "One Belt, One Road" will provide broad prospects and excellent opportunities for new bilateral cooperation. Britain will give play to its strengths in talent, technology, finance, and other areas, and will play an important role in the establishment of "One Belt, One Road". We appreciate that Britain was the first western country to join the AIIB and we believe that "One Belt, One Road" will inject new vigor and vitality to Sino-Britain ties.
