BEIJING, May 24 -- China will bring athletics events to city streets.
The high jump event of the China Athletics Elite series will be held in Beijing's outdoor shopping mall "Solana" on July 11, while the pole vault will be held in "The Place" on August 8, also an outdoor shopping center.
It is the first time for China to hold athletics events in city street.
"It will let more people take a close look at pole vaulting," said Xue Changrui, national record holder of the event and winner of the IAAF Continental Cup in 2014.
China's high-level athletics competition had already come to universities as the first stage of the China Athletics Elite took place in Tsinghua University on May 8.
