The drivers of a Ferrari and Lamborghini who crashed in Beijing, in what was dubbed the 'Fast and Furious' incident, were found guilty of dangerous driving and sentenced to four and five months in prison, respectively, on Thursday.

Arrested for dangerous driving were the driver of the Lamborghini, a 21-year-old identified as Tang, and the 20-year-old driver of the Ferrari, identified as Yu.

Both vehicles careened through a tunnel guardrail in an underpass near the Bird's Nest stadium on the rainy night of April 11 before smashing into walls at speeds of more than 100 mph, according to a statement from the Beijing Traffic Management Bureau. Neither driver had a job, the bureau added.

The father of the Lamborghini driver told the Beijing News that the car was bought with money he and his son made from the booming stock market in the last two years. "We are not high-ranking officials or rich business people," the driver's mother said.

Traffic police officers in Chaoyang district, where the crash occurred, said anti-drag racing efforts have been tried before, but they have been hampered because they cannot endanger the public by driving faster than the racers, according to the Beijing Times.
