Davis–Monthan Air Force Base is located in Tucson city of Arizona, the United States. It occupies an area of 10.5 square kilometers which equals to 1430 football fields. The base is known as the location of the Air Force Materiel Command's 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG), the aircraft boneyard for excess military and government aircraft. There are two reasons why the boneyard is built there: first, the dry conditions reduce corrosion; second, the hard ground does not need to be paved.
