MENGZI, Yunnan, May 17 -- A three-day China-Vietnam border meeting attended by the two countries' defense ministers concluded on Sunday with the two sides agreeing to deepen border cooperation.
Chinese Defense Minister Chang Wanquan said the two sides have agreed on specific measures to promote the development of the relations between the two countries' militaries and to strengthen border cooperation.
Chang's Vietnamese counterpart Phung Quang Thanh said Vietnam highly values the bilateral military relations and is willing to promote friendship, deepen mutual trust and expand cooperation.
Also on Sunday, Chinese and Vietnamese troops conducted a joint patrol in a border area stretching seven kilometers, targeting crimes such as damages of border signs, smuggling, drug trafficking and illegal border crossing.
