Beijing May 13 (People's Daily Online) —EU delegation to China, Polish Embassy and Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) jointly launched an EU-China Friendship Garden in Beijing on May 12, 2015.

The year 2015 marks the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the European Union (EU) and China. The launch of the EU-China Friendship Garden is one of the commemorative activities held during the 2015 BFSU EU Languages and Cultures Festival.

Located on the campus of BFSU, the garden covers an area of over 400 square meters. 28 gingko trees are planted in the garden to represent the 28 member states of the EU. Unique to China, Gingko trees can live for thousands of years, which symbolize the long-live friendship between Europe and China.

Head of the EU Delegation to China Hans Dietmar Schweisgut, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland Monika Smoleń, President of BFSU Peng Long, ambassadors and diplomats from EU member states, as well as Chinese officials attended the launching ceremony.
