KATHMANDU, May 12  -- Following Tuesday's powerful earthquake, Nepalese Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has urged all the Nepalese to have patience in this crisis period.

He also informed that 16 persons have been confirmed dead and 846 injured in the latest quake.

Making a brief address to public following the emergency cabinet meeting Tuesday afternoon, Koirala urged all people to support in search, rescue and relief programs.

"All the state mechanisms have already been mobilized in Kathmandu and the worst-hit districts to rescue and help the quake victims," the prime minister said.

At a time when the people have gathered in streets and open places seeking safety, the prime minister also urged the public to cooperate and join hands in this difficult moment.
