Search and rescue team marks 14th year with Nepal quake efforts

A China-led international rescue team was sent to Nepal just hours after the earthquake struck on April 25, Wang Manda, the international department deputy director of the China Earthquake Administration, told reporters on Wednesday.

The China International Search and Rescue Team, made up of 62 members and six rescue dogs, successfully rescued two quake victims and treated more than 4,000 injured. The team arrived in Nepal 21 hours after the earthquake, and conducted its first rescue six hours later.

Founded on April 27, 2001, the search and rescue team marked its 14th year with rescue efforts in Kathmandu.
