"Today we will go to the medical point in Durbar Square. The medicines have been put in the car. We are going now." - This was the message that the reporter of Peoples' Daily received from Zhang Xuemei, a doctor from China International Medical Rescue Team on the morning of May. 5. The team arrived in quake-hit Kathmandu to help with rescue missions on Apr. 26.

8 doctors from China International Medical Rescue Team, carrying 6 boxes of drugs, took part in the medical relief work in Nepal. As soon as they arrived at Durbar Square, they quickly went to work. Seeing their presence, local residents soon surrounded them and asked them for help. Salita, 33, from Kathmandu, was suffering from high blood pressure and back pain. She came quickly for help on hearing of the arrival of the Chinese medical team. Doctor Ma Lizhen treated her. Worrying about any language misunderstanding, Ma took care to mark the dosage clearly on the package. Salita was touched by the professionalism and charity of Ma, and gave her the thumbs-up sign in front of the People's Daily.

Tilak Thapa, 30, is a student majoring in psychology in Tribhuvan University. He met the Chinese doctors in Durbar Square. He said: "I came for help because I caught a cold. I also want to take the chance to watch how the Chinese medical team organize their work and how they serve the people." Because Thapa spoke fluent English, the Chinese doctor treated him very quickly. "I can see that they are trying their best to help us,” said Thapa.

People's Daily found that no matter what the situation is, the Chinese doctors always keep listening patiently to their patients and answering their questions, so that the patients will leave with a satisfied smile. "Yesterday we went to an orphanage, where we were the first team to provide medical and financial support. We saw that despite having gone through a 7.9-magnitude earthquake, the children were still so happy at our arrival. They held us tightly and repeated: 'Hello! I love you! Thank you!' " Zhang Xuemei smiled at these words, recalling the moving scenes of her stay in Nepal.
