Treatment covers 39,000 people following quake in Nepal: authority

KATHMANDU, May 6 -- Some 39,000 injured persons have received treatment so far since the massive earthquake rattled Nepal on April 25, the country's Ministry of Health and Population said in a statement on Wednesday.

It said 85 international medical teams and some 100 domestic squads have joined the medical aid efforts in the quake-affected districts across the nation.

Medical workers from countries including China, Pakistan, India, Thailand, Israel, Canada, Czech Republic, Turkey, Norway and Germanyparticipated in the Nepal mission.

The death toll of the devastating earthquake rose to 7,652 on Wednesday with the number of injuries standing at 16,390, the Home Ministry said in its latest update.
