Johannesburg, April 23 (People’s Daily Online) — Thousands of South Africans and foreigners gathered at Joburg CBD on Thursday afternoon. They marched from Pieter Roos Park to Mary Fitzgerald Square in a stand against the recent spate of xenophobic attacks in the country, which have claimed at least seven lives, and left thousands displaced.
"Let us embrace diversity." A Swazi working in Joburg took a day off to join the rally.
More than 100 local overseas Chinese took part in the campaign to voice their support. Participants greeted them with basic Mandarin like "Ni Hao" to extend appreciation.
