Johannesburg, April 24 (People’s Daily Online) — "Just one small little line has a whole story behind it. Something we never knew," said Anisa Ebrahim admiring the attraction of Chinese characters. Working as an attorney who associates with Chinese clients, Ebrahim sometimes encounters language barriers. "Gradually we learn the language little by little."

As an exhibition showcasing the glory of Chinese Characters kicks off at Museum Africa in Johannesburg on Thursday, local South Africans are able to get close contact with authentic works of top Chinese calligraphy.

The exhibition launched by National Museum of Chinese Writing, showcasing the origin, development and dissemination of Chinese characters, briefly demonstrates the charm of their calligraphic art, as well as their essence over thousands of years.

Zola Mtshiza, the Curator of Museum Africa, appreciates this special opportunity, saying, "It’s definitely going to benefit schools, public of the city, normal visitors of the Museum."

The exhibition has already toured at least 20 cities home and abroad. As Johannesburg being its first stop in the African continent, it is also traveling to Durban this July.
