JAKARTA, April 22 -- China's proposal to boost cooperation between Asia and Africa will help both continents to deepen understanding of each other, a senior Iranian official said here Wednesday.

China has good investment in Africa, and many other Asian countries also pay attention to Africa. "This is a very good cooperation between the two continents," Ebrahim Rahimpour, deputy minister for Asia, Oceania and CIS of the Iranian foreign ministry, told Xinhua on the sidelines of an Asian-African Summit.

Rahimpour hailed Chinese President Xi Jinping's three-point proposal on realizing that grand vision in line with the time- honored Bandung Spirit of solidarity, friendship and cooperation.

He deemed the proposal as a very good opportunity for both Asia and Africa to boost economic development and improve the welfare of peoples of the two continents.

Iran is supporting this activity because "we must stand on our feet," he said.
