A man robbed 11 luxury wristwatches from a Cartier store inside a shopping mall in Wangfujing, in downtown Beijing, in the evening of March 16, 2015, according to the Beijing News.
The mall has since been shut.
He was caught on his way of fleeing.
An investigation is underway by the police.
According to the manager of the watch store, the masked man entered the store with a knife.
Only one salesperson was in the store at that moment whose hands were bound by the robber with a plastic robe.
The manager said as the man was fleeing the store, some salesmen, who went dining out while the robbery took place, came back and started to chase him.
According to the manager, the watches are worth around 3 million yuan (480,000 USD).
A passer-by surnamed Liu recalled that the masked man was seen walking out of store at around 7:12 p.m. "Then I saw some salesman running out of the Cartier store started to chase the masked man," said Liu.
A salesman from Cartier told the Beijing News that as they chased the robber for a hundred meters, he suddenly pulled off a gun and shot twice.
The robber stopped a cab by force and fled the scene, and was then caught by the police on his way.
No injury has been reported.
