Tombs on the mountain alongside the No. 329 National Road of Yangwang Village in Shaoxing, east China's Zhejiang Province, have been painted green, Nandu.com reports.
According to the director of the civil affairs bureau of local government, altogether six villages in the Doumen Town were required to take part in the Tomb Revirescence Project, but only the Yangwang Village adopted this method because the area where the tombs are located is mountainous and planting trees there is troublesome.
The project is a vital criterion to evaluate the civil affairs service of town-level government. The local civil affairs bureau has issued a notice that all tombs along highways and roads have to be 'regreened' through relocation, deep burial or planting new trees.
Due to the unique situation of the village, the three methods of regreening offered by the bureau are beyond their reach.
The Doumen Town authorities have now decided to investigate the situation and will solve the problem according to laws and regulations.
