Well-known photographer Lv Houmin passed away on Monday morning at the age of 88, according to the Shanghai-based media outlet thepaper.cn.
Lv built a reputation for taking precious photos of Chairman Mao Zedong and other political leaders.
He served as a special cameraman of the country's top leaders from 1950 to 1964.
As well as recording many historical moments, Lv also took pictures of Mao's daily life.
