Malaysian PM meets with Meng Jianzhu

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb. 9-- Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak met with top Chinese security official Meng Jianzhu here on Monday.

Meng, head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and a special envoy of Chinese President Xi Jinping, conveyed an oral message and cordial greetings from Xi.

The Chinese official said as China and Malaysia are close friends and reliable partners, China is willing to promote mutual political trust, to expand substantial cooperation, to steadily boost economic cooperation and to support each other in matters concerning interests of both sides.

Meng exchanged views on regional security with the Malaysian prime minister and the duo reached consensus on many topics.

Meng said China appreciates the fruitful Sino-Malaysian cooperation in anti-telecom crimes, multinational pursuit of criminals and law enforcement.

The two nations are to join efforts in creating security environment for sectors of trade, investment and tourism, Meng added.

Najib expressed gratitude toward President Xi's message and asked Meng to convey his wishes to Xi and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.

Najib said there lies a huge potential for Malaysia-China economic, cultural and law enforcement cooperation.

He expressed confidence in the future of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.

He wishes that the two sides would boost cooperation in sectors of investment, infrastructure construction, tourism, finance and law enforcement.

Meng, during his Malaysia tour, also met with Malaysian Minister of Home Affairs Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
