
CHANGCHUN, China, Feb. 6 -- Stephon Marbury contributed 26 points and 13 assists to help visiting Beijing defeat Jilin 128-119 in their Chinese Basketball Association playoffs opener here on Friday.
The defending champion prevailed in most of the time. Jilin narrowed the gap to one point in the 4th quarter, but the bench's bad performance ruined their hopes in front of hometown crowd.
Dominique Jones led Jilin with 40 points. The native players of Jilin only scored 37 points in the game.
Beijing led the best-of-five series by 1-0.
Beijing got two titles in last three seasons of the CBA league.
It was Jilin's first CBA playoffs campaign since 2005/2006 season.
