BEIJING, Feb. 4-- The Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) said it is willing to offer all-out assistance to TransAsia Airways after a TransAsia airplane crashed into a Taipei river on Wednesday.

The CAAC sent a message to TransAsia Airways extending its condolences to the victims and the injured on board flight GE235, said Li Jiaxiang, head of the CAAC.

Flight GE235 of TransAsia Airways, carrying 58 people, crashed into a Taipei river on Wednesday morning. The death toll has reached 12. The aircraft is ATR 72 model

On the night of July 23 last year, flight GE222 of TransAsia smashed into residential buildings after a failed emergency landing in the outlying island county of Penghu, killing 48 people. It was also an ATR 72 model airplane.

The ATR 72 is a twin-engine turboprop short-haul regional airliner built by the French-Italian aircraft manufacturer ATR. It can take more than 70 people on board. It serves around 180 airline companies in over 90 countries and regions.

TransAsia Airways, founded in 1951, is Taiwan's first private airline, mainly focusing on the island's market and short trip overseas flights. It ranks the third biggest airline company in Taiwan.
