BEIJING, Jan. 14 -- On January 13, the 9th national meteorological vocational skills competition was held in Chendu University of Information Technology, Chengdu City of Sichuan Province. 102 players from 31 provinces participated in the contest. Dr. Yu Rucong, Deputy Administrator of China Meteorological Administration (CMA) attended the opening ceremony.
The contest will be ended on January 16 and is divided into surface weather observations (including cloudy day observation), automatic weather station technical support and computer integrated processing, aiming to check the forecasters' capabilities in public meteorological service, meteorological forecast and prediction, meteorological observation, and integrated meteorological protection.
The public meteorological service and meteorological forecast and prediction have been added to the contest for the first time.
The national meteorological vocational skills competition aims to motivate the outstanding talent and drive the entire meteorological industry technological progress. (Jan. 14)
