Colorless childhood

Minghua is a 6-year-old girl. Her mother is dead and her father is mental disordered. Minghua lives with her grandparents. She has been living in fear because of the lack of parental love. Her grandparents think Minghua is retarded, and she was rejected by primary school. Her childhood seems colorless compared with her peers.

Her father became mental disordered when he was 20 years old. The bad tempered man has lost ability to work. So it’s her grandparents who work to support the whole family. The corns they harvested only sold 2,000 yuan last autumn. Since Minghua’s parents have no ability to educate her. Minhua feels isolated.

Minghua’s father always asks for money from her grandparents. If they refuse to give him money, he will scold and even beat the poor couple. The room of Minghua’s father is dirty and cold. When Minghua was two years old, her mother went out and got lost. Later, her body was spotted in the debris 10 kilometers away from the village. Since then, her father’s disease got worse. In 2014, Minghua was enrolled in Legan institution which is committed to serving mentally challenged adolescents and adults.
