BEIJING, Jan. 7 (People's Daily Online) --- "Future warfare will be local wars under informationized conditions, China's military must improve its capabilities to control the information warfare", said Professor Zhu Chenghu at a forum on international issues in Beijing Tuesday.

Zhu Chenghu, professor and major general at National Defense University PLA China, pointed out that information security will be China's most vulnerable area.

Future warfare will be the local wars under informationized conditions, and information warfare will control the form and future of war. Using information technology as the main means of combat arms, space, air, sea, ground, cyberspace, even the electromagnetic pulse space could become the target of attacks.

"Today, to destroy a network is easy for many countries, but in times of peace, no one dares to do so", said Zhu.

Faced with the future warfare development and military strategy changes of the United States and other countries, China must strengthen the construction of military force and boost the development of weapons and equipment.

In military construction, China needs to increase military investment to ensure the financial support, improve the ability to control information warfare, and strengthen the combat capability of its troops and equipment.

In weapons development, China needs to strengthen the development of information infrastructure and equipment, reinforce space forces, improve the construction of nuclear strategic offensive and defensive forces, and boost the construction of naval equipment.

Zhu also emphasized the importance of China's sea power construction. He pointed out that China began to pay attention to the sea in recent years, partly because of the increasing maritime security challenges. China must protect its maritime rights from being violated.

On the other hand, China's economic development depends more on the oceans than before. However, China is still far behind the West in the construction of sea power. To safeguard China's maritime interests, the only way is to develop sea power.
