Temporary bullet trains will be launched to connect Beijing and Yanjiao starting from January 12, according to the Beijing railway authority.

Yanjiao, a small town of Hebei province and some 30 kilometers away from central Beijing, has become a good place for 500,000 office workers in the capital to live due to lower housing price since 2007. However, these residents have to spend hours in commuting every weekday.

In order to improve the situation, a bullet train will depart from Yaojiao at rush hour, both in the morning and evening from next Monday. Another train will start from Beijing Railway Station at 20:26 pm.

Taking the intercity bullet train only takes about 26 to 31 minutes, nearly 10 minutes less than taking the fast trains, of which the running time does not meet the needs of working commuters.

The price of the newly launched train is yet to be unveiled, but presumed higher than the 9 yuan (about 1.5 USD) price of fast trains.

The tickets will go on sale from 10am at Beijing Railway Station, and from 4pm at the Yanjiao Railway Station, with a courtesy reminder from the railway authorities.
