BEIJING, Jan. 8 -- Chinese Premier Li Keqiang vowed Thursday to strengthen political trust and deepen practical cooperation with Costa Rica.

Li made the remarks while meeting visiting Costa Rican President Luis Guillermo Solis, who also attended the first ministerial meeting of the Forum of China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

Li said that the two countries have undergone sound development, although diplomatic relations between the two do not date back long.

China appreciates Costa Rica's adherence to the one China policy and will deepen communication in international and regional affairs, Li said.

Both sides should jointly draft an action plan, expand trade and promote investment, said Li.

"China's advantages in production capacity and advanced equipment will meet Costa Rica's needs in improving transportation and infrastructure," Li added.

Solis said that since diplomatic relations were established, bilateral relations have benefited economic and social development in Costa Rica.

Solis said he welcomes more investment from China.
