Japan invaded northeast China in September 1931, followed by full-scale invasion that started on July 7, 1937. Around 35 million Chinese soldiers and civilians were killed or injured in the war against Japanese invasion that continued until 1945. Owning thousands of relics from the period, Liu Lei told the reporter that he just found one or two items that record the happenings after the Japanese invaded Nanjing, not mention the records of Nanjing Massacre. He said, "I believe all the records had been systematically destroyed by the Japanese army under the international pressure."
