Chinese artist Li Bin's gigantic historical artwork Mandela is currently on exhibition in Beijing's 798 Art Zone to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of the legendary South African leader. It took Li two years to complete the narrative work 38 meters in width and 3.8 meters in height, depicting the lifelong struggle for peace and tolerance by Nelson Mandela in three chapters: Prisoner, President and Peacemaker.
The painting was unveiled in the art zone Tuesday by the artist and South African Ambassador in China Langa, among other guests of the show. The show is also an essential concluding program of the South Africa Year in China launched this May.
