Nine years ago, an eye disease left Zhu Bo in the dark world forever. He started to smoke and quit on himself. It was his wife who gave him faith and encouraged him during that hard time. Now when talking about that period, Zhu can smile over it; he says that he feels like he can see lights because his wife is his eye.
It was hard to tell that Zhu was blind when journalists first saw him. He looks so optimistic. However, when Zhu first lost his sight, he was devastated. "He easily got angry, always blamed others for not getting stuff for him. Then I started to encourage him to do things himself, keeping telling him that he can do it," said Zhang Lanfang, Zhu's wife.
Not only does he cook, but he also does many volunteer works to help others. Zhu says that he hopes to spread positive energy, telling more people that life is a process of conquering obstacles, and people can always see lights in their hearts.
