Photo taken on Sept. 19, 2014 shows Liu Ge, a researcher of frozen soil, standing on the Hol Xil part of Qinghai-Tibet highway, northwest China's Qinghai Province. In the past 12 years, Liu Ge worked on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau every year from May to October, collecting data of frozen soil and meteorology. The year of 2014 marks the 60th anniversary of the opening of the Qinghai-Tibet highway. The highway, linking Xining, capital city of Qinghai province, and Lhasa, capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region, is a lifeline for Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It boosts economic growth of regions along the road and makes lots of people's dreams come true. (Xinhua/Guo Qiuda) |
