INCHEON, South Korea, Sept. 28 -- China's Xia Xinyi and Ma Yuanyuan were crowned the Asian Games champions after defeating Thailand's Tanaratta Udomchavee and Varapatsorn Radarong 2-0 (21-12, 21-18) in the women's beach volleyball final on Sunday.
Wang Fan and Yue Yuan, also from China, clinched the bronze medal after beating Yupa Phokongploy and Usa Tenpaksee of Thailand 21-14, 21-11.
The final match began with a close battle, but after consecutive service aces by Ma midway the first set, the Chinese pair overwhelmed.
The match was tight in the second set. China took an early lead but the Thais managed to keep the gap within two points. Despite Thailand's last minute spurt, China's defense was unbreakable. After winning five points in a row, the Chinese closed out the set 21-18.
