Even if a Belgian player was sent off in the last game with South Korea, the South Korean team failed to pull off a miracle in the group phase. It was knocked out as the bottom in the group, together with other three Asian teams including Australia, Japan and Iran. Asian teams performed disappointingly, especially the South Korean team. In the second game South Korea was defeated by Algeria to 2 to 4.
