BEIJING, July 10 -- The ongoing annual high-level talks between China and the United States will inject robustness into bilateral relations, said Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hong Lei on Thursday.
Speaking about the sixth round of China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED), Hong said the most important message it conveys to the world is that "the two countries will stick to dialogue and cooperation to promote their new model of major-country relationship."
"History and reality have proved that China and the U.S. will benefit from cooperation, but be hurt by confrontation," Hong said, adding the two countries are expected to strengthen coordination and avoid rivalry to benefit themselves and the whole world.
"The two nations should take this dialogue to prove their commitment to making cooperation the main theme of the China-U.S. relationship," he said.
