BEIJING, July 8 -- China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) have discovered dozens cases of unqualified products in a nationwide safety check of medical apparatus, according to a report on Tuesday.
During the campaign, the quality of disposable items -- condoms, syringes, catheters, etc. -- has been specifically emphasized. Of 1206 infusion sets inspected, 29 were substandard.
Three batches of domestic condoms were found faulty and the same goes for hemodialysis concentrated solution. The CFDA also found eight batches of catheter bags with excessive residue of ethylene oxide.
Manufacturers of inferior products and clinics using them have been punished, the report said.
The CFDA launched a five-month nationwide safety campaign to check the manufacture, sale and use of medical apparatus in mid-March. The action focuses on fake certificates, illegal manufacture and sales, false advertising claims and the use of unapproved products.
