BEIJING, July 8 -- China's central authorities issued a circular on Tuesday, calling for a lasting and effective mechanism for the ongoing work style revamp among officials.
The central authorities leading group on the mass-line campaign also required officials to carefully study President Xi Jinping's comments on June 30 regarding the campaign.
The circular demands prudent handling of "problematic" officials -- corrupt officials and those with work style problems -- as well as a lasting and effective mechanism to prevent achievements being short-lived.
The circular pointed out several outstanding problems for the next stage of the campaign, such as irregularities in administrative fees and fines, shrinking welfare packages and payments owed to the public in arrears.
Officials with families overseas, officials receiving salaries for nonexistent posts, and extravagance under the guise of training are the new focus of the campaign.
The mass-line campaign was launched last June to cement Party-people ties and clean up undesirable work styles such as bureaucracy and extravagance.
