Highway to Designed Hydropower Station on Hongshui River Opens to Traffic
A highway designed to facilitate construction of the Longtan Hydropower Station on Hongshui River, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, has been completed and opened to traffic.
According to local sources, the 81 km highway connects Tian'e County, where the hydropower station will be located, with Nandan County, also in Guangxi.
Longtan Hydropower Station is one of the key projects designed to develop water resources on the Hongshui River. It will have a generating capacity of 5.4 million kw, second only to the Three Gorges Hydropower Project on the mighty Yangtze River.
Construction of the principal works for Longtan Hydropower Station, involving a total investment of some 30 billion yuan (3. 61 billion U.S. dollars), will start this year, said the sources.
