Chongqing Invests Heavily to Hi-tech Bid

The Academician Fund and Sci-Tech Development Fund have been founded towards the end of cashing in on a good many of hi-tech development projects in Chongqing.

By Academician Fund there is already an allotment of 1 million yuan that has been made to aid scientific researchers every year since 1997, and a sum of 1.52 million yuan placed at the disposal of 7 academicians in the city last year.

Sci-Tech Development Fund has its use mainly to help doctors, overseas returnees and topnotch young, middle-aged tech experts.

Altogether 60 million yuan have been invested by the city in recent 4 years. It is reported that by 2002 the city will use another 200 million yuan as hi-tech investment. In addition, a Technology Venture Fund and High-tech Industrialization Warrant Fund will also be established to back up university hi-tech parks and hi-tech international incubator base construction in the city.
