Li Peng, chairman of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) met with a delegation of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey led by its Speaker Yildirim Akbulut at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on February 21, 2000.

Li Peng points out that the two countries should strengthen cooperation and bilateral relations. He also extends his solicitude to the Turkish people for the casualties they have suffered in the country's earthquake last year.
