World Tang Visits Iran, the Last Leg of His Tour

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan arrived Tehran Sunday on a four-day official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In a statement upon arrival, Tang said that during his visit, he will discuss with Iranian leaders on the prospects of cooperation between China and Iran in the new century.

He said that he has brought a message to Iranian President Mohammad Khatami from Chinese President Jiang Zemin.

The minister added that he will also meet with Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh during the visit. China is willing to listen to Iran's views on the developments of the international oil market, he said.

This is Tang's first visit to Iran as foreign minister. Iran is the last leg of his four-nation tour which has already taken him to Mauritania, Tunisia and Kuwait.
