Business Major Chinese Provinces Report Surge in Exports

East China's Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces, both the country's economic powerhouses, reported high growth in exports for the first month of this year.

Exports of Zhejiang surged 79.2 percent to top 1.219 billion U. S. dollars in January on a yearly basis, while that of Jiangsu soared 55.3 percent to reach 1.38 billion U.S dollars.

Experts attributed the upward trend mainly to a more diversified market strategy and the recovery of Asian economies.

Statistics show that both provinces obtained export growth on all overseas markets in the month.

According to figures from the General Administration of Customs, China's export volume in January hit 16.8 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 47.8 percent over the same period of last year.
