Business Inter-Bank Foreign-Exchange Transaction Volume Sees Steep Rise

Latest statistics from the China Foreign Exchange Center indicate that the inter-bank foreign exchange market transaction volume shot up in January 2000, recording the largest monthly business volume since September 1998. .The statistics indicate that the inter-bank foreign exchange center made 21 deals in January, the total transaction volume was equivalent to US$4.015 billion, with the volume of each deal reaching US$0.191 billion, up by 57 percent over last year's same period. The transaction volumes of various currencies was US$3.935, HK$.0.358 billion, and Japanese Yen 3.641 billion.
