Business Hainan's Traffic Mileage Approaches 20,000 Km

Hannan Province invested 2 billion yuan in road construction last year, with 566 km of newly added mileage, including 301 km of expressways. At present, the province's traffic mileage has exceeded 19,000 km, with 603 km being expressways.

*Tourism Becomes Pillar of Tibet's Economy

Some 448,000 domestic and foreign tourists visited Tibet in 1999, which was a record high and 15.6 percent over 1998. Tourism has become a pillar industry of Tibet, which earned foreign exchange of US$36 million last year, earning an income of 570 million yuan for Tibet in the same period.
