China Key Projects in Western China Become Tourism Attractions

Some key state projects in southwest China's Sichuan Province, such as the Xichang Satellite Launching Center, have become new tourism attractions.

China began building key state projects in southwestern Sichuan in the early 1960s, which have been playing important role in the nation's economic construction.

Nearly 100,000 tourists from across the country and overseas visited the satellite launching center, the Panzhihua Iron and Steel Complex, and the Ertan Hydropower Station in the first four days of the Chinese lunar new year alone.

In the Panzhihua steel company, a group of tourists were visiting the workshops and taking pictures in front of the furnaces.

It is learned that out of every 100 km of railways in China, 40 km were built using steels produced by the company.

There was also a surge of tourism during the first three days of the Spring Festival in Urumqi and other parts of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, northwestern China. Tourists have come from Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and other places.
