Business Shanghai Uncovers Major Cases of Cigarette Smuggling

The Customs in east China's Shanghai City has seized 18,000 cartons of smuggled cigarettes since last August, worth some 60 million yuan (US$7.2 million).

The customs seized the cigarettes in three separate dispatches. The cigarettes were hidden in containers that were supposed to carry clay and paperboard. Customs officers discovered the smuggled cigarettes by checking clearance documents on the computer network.
