China China Urges US to Honor WTO Deal

China hopes that the United States government will honor its commitment concerning China's accession into the World Trade Organization, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzao on February 1.

In response to a question at today's press conference, Zhu said that the Chinese side has noticed that many US congressmen and people from the business community have expressed their support for China's entry into the WTO.

China has also taken note of the fact that the US government has stated clearly that it will try to grant the normal trade status to China, he noted, adding that the Chinese side hopes that the US side will honor its commitment in real earnest and with concrete steps.

The bilateral agreement on China's accession into the WTO reached between China and the US late last year is a "win-win" deal that will be helpful to China's reform and opening-up, the smooth development of Sino-US trade relations and overall bilateral ties, Zhu said.
