Sports Chinese Skaters Shine in Speed Skating

Li Jiajun won the men's 500 meters and fellow Chinese Yang Yang took the women's sprint event in a World Cup short track speed skating meet in Goteborg, Sweden, on January 28.

Li won the final in 42.448 seconds for his second podium finish in two days. He was second in the 1,500m on January 27.

Mathieu Turcotte of Canada placed second in the 500 in 42.703 and Fabio Carta of Italy third in 43.690.

Yang, winner of the 1,500m, clocked 45.517 seconds in the women's race. Her teammate Wang Chunlu was second in 46.201 and Min-JinJoo of South Korea was third in 46.267.
