China Construction Work Starts to Harness Yangtze River

Construction work has begun to reinforce main embankments of China's Yangtze River, which will cost a total of 1.5billion yuan.

The China No.3 Water Resources and Hydroelectric Engineering Corporation and other corporations are in charge of the initial stages of the reinforcement project which will cost a total of 1.5billion yuan.

Construction work in Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi and Anhui provinces on the lowest reaches of the River is expected to be completed before the flood season this year.

The Yangtze Water Resources Committee has launched project bidding for the second, third and fourth stages of the embankment reinforcement project.
