Sports China Pockets Third Gold at World Cup Diving

Li Na and Sang Xue claimed the women's 10 meters synchronized platform title Thursday night to bring China's haul to three golds on the third day of the FINA Diving World Cup at the Sydney Olympic pool.

Russian superstar Dmitriy Sautin showed his outstanding abilities in diving again by snatching the gold in the 3-meter springboard. Xiao Hailiang of China had to settle for the second place.

Sautin won the 10-meter platform at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics and bronze at the 1992 Barcelona Games and took out the 3-meter and 10-meter finals at the 1998 world championships.

When asked about how he would act in September, Sautin said the Olympics is very special and there would be a lot of pressure on everybody. "It is very difficult to predict what would happen." He added.

Li Na won the women's 10 meters platform title and Chinese pair Xiong Ni and Xiao Hailiang triumphed in the men's 3-meter synchronized diving on Wednesday. (Xinhua)
