Thursday, January 27, 2000, updated at 08:48(GMT+8) Sci-Tech Chinese Medicine Found Effective in Killing Cancer Cells Chinese medical scientists discovered recently that a Chinese medicinal injection called "Kanglate" (pronunciation) could kill cancer by preventing the growth of cancerous blood vessels and malignant tumor genes. The discovery is considered to be a new breakthrough for the application of Chinese medicines in preventing the spread of cancer. Up until now there is no such anti-cancer drug in the medical world that can be widely used to control the growth of cancerous blood vessels and thus control the growth and transfer of malign tumors to other parts of body. The painful and mostly poisonous side effects of synthesized medicines have impelled scientists to probe further into the research of anti-cancer Chinese medicines. "Kanglate" was introduced by a pharmaceutical company in east China's Zhejiang Province and is a key project of the State Administration of Chinese Medicine. Its clinical effects have overturned the once widely acknowledged notion in the medical profession that Chinese medicine itself cannot kill cancer cells. China's prestigious medical institutions such as China Medical Research Institution, the Beijing Medical University and Military Medical Institutions have all confirmed that "Kanglate" is very effective in controlling the growth of malign tumor genes.
