Culture Tourist Route to Nujiang Grand Gorge to Open

Yunnan Province will open a tourist route to the Nujiang Grand Gorge during the Kunming International Tourism Festival, which begins on April 10.

The 800-km-long gorge in the Lisu Autonomous Prefecture of Nujiang is the point of convergence for the Jinsha, Lancang (the upper Mekong), and Nujiang rivers. It is a beautiful scenic spot, the home to 12 ethnic groups, and is listed as one of the three major biodiversity centers in China.

Five tourist zones have been opened at the grand gorge.

The gorge is a four-hour flight from the provincial capital of Kunming. The prefecture has 21 hotels which play host to more than900,000 visitors annually.
