East China's Shandong Province, one of the country's economic powerhouses, intends to take a series of effective measures to improve its business environment. Shandong's Vice Governor Du Shicheng said the move is aimed at better protecting the legitimate rights and interests of overseas investors.

Du said the province will ban all administrative fees that are not approved by the State Council, the Ministry of Finance, the State Development Planning Commission, and the provincial government.

A responsibility system will be established at related government departments to cope with complaints from overseas investors, Du said, adding that such complaints should be dealt with within 30 days.

Greater efforts will also be made to improve various overseas investment services in the province, Du said.

Shandong has established a total of more than 20,000 overseas-funded enterprises during the past two decades, 10,245 of which are now operational.
